I've got a few completely random and unrelated pictures to share with you from my week for Photo Friday:
Ignore the weeds, look at the flowers! The crocuses are blooming in our front yard. Spring will be here soon!
Went to Fred Meyer for a lampshade, came out with a skirt instead. A cute skirt! On sale for $19.99! I can see it with flats or sandals and a jean jacket or bright cardigan for spring. Can't wait to wear it. Do y'all have Fred Meyer where you're at? I think they may just be a Pacific Northwest store. Why am I saying y'all in the Pacific NW? Because it's fun, y'all.
It's a good thing we have a lighthouse on this corner as a beacon for all those ships coming to port. Oh wait, we're on the busy intersection of 128th and landlocked. There's no open water within, like, 9 miles of this spot. This was my husband's astute observation. We've passed this spot a hundred times and never thought about this random lighthouse attached to a public storage facility, but once Rick pointed that out, it made me laugh so hard I had to take a picture of it. It even has a working light on top to guide all those seeking storage to shore. :)
After some encouragement from my friend Jackie, I've just re-joined Instagram (I'm at lilikoijoysharon if you want to find me!) These are my first photos posted over there. I was on Instagram last year and then got all huffy with their privacy policy changes they were about to make so in a dramatic push of a button, I deleted my account a couple months ago. Then they rescinded their changes right after that. Go figure! I really wasn't a big user of Instagram before I deleted my account anyways, but I'm convinced that since I love taking pictures so much, I'm sure to fall in love with Instagram. Right? :)
Do you Instagram? Do you love it? Any tips?

Your new skirt would have fit with my post today - dreaming of Spring with the beautiful flowers!
ReplyDeleteIt so would! I love stripes, especially black and white! I've got to share the link to your post: http://www.mydesignchic.com/2013/03/fashionable-friday-love-stripe.html
DeleteSo pretty!
Ok, first I need a good book to read. Is Gone girl good or depressing? I don't like reading depressing stories. I either like sic-fi or classics like Gone with the Wind or humorous books like The Help! Do you have any other recommendations? I'm going to re-read The Host again since I read it so long ago and I want to see the movie and be refreshed. Did you ever read that book? It's really good. Its by the same gal who wrote Twilight (which of course I read as well).
ReplyDeleteSecondly, I'm so glad you followed my advice and joined instagram. Yaay! I gave you some advice yesterday via instagram as well as left a comment on my blog in response to your comment. I sometimes post 2-3 pics a day and have a blast with it and then I'm silent for a couple of days. I love that it's a noncommittal thing and you just post a photo when you feel like it. I do check it all the time to keep up with what my friends are doing and to also keep an eye on Zoe since she's on there. The whole reason I joined was to keep an eye on her. It really is like texting but more fun because there are photos!
Yes, we have fun plans for the weekend. We're heading down to Carmel for some beach time. John's parents rent a house on the beach for the month of March, so we're going down to hang with them.
Ok, Eli just woke up and wants some eggs! Talk to you later girlfriend!
xoxo, Jackie
Hey GF! I just started Gone Girl. I think it's sort of a mystery actually and I have a feeling it might be depressing since a woman goes missing. I loved The Help! and the movie. The last book I read was based on a true story, Unbroken. It's sad at times but was such an inspirational book overall. It's not the kind of book I would typically read because much of it is about world war 2, but it was really good. The next book in my queue is Mennonite in a Little Black Dress and that's supposed to be funny but I haven't gotten to it yet. I wish I had a chance to read more, but with Jake leaving in the fall to college (sniffle) I will have more time.
DeleteI can't wait to play around more with instagram! That helps when you explain it that way and I'll log in and see what other tips you wrote. Good idea about keeping tabs on Zoe, and its just another way to connect with a teen too. :)
I love Carmel and Monterey area! How wonderful! Take plenty of pics. It's been a long time since we've been down there and Rick and I were just saying a few months ago that we should take a trip back down there again. Have a fun relaxing weekend at the beach! xoxo, Sharon
Ok, I am totally surfing and putting off writing my Sunday post. I'm just not feeling it right now. I commented on your photo on instagram that you need put the @ and then the name of the person you're responding to, so that they can see that you responded to them in their news feed. Make sense? I responded to your comment on the photo of John and I and you will see that in your news feed. I didn't like Unbroken, too depressing :(
DeleteOk, if you and Rick come to Carmel or anywhere near my neck of the woods, you have to be sure to meet up with me, k?
Ok, I'm now off to run a few errands before I pick up little Eli! Happy Friday!
xoxo, Jackie
Thanks for the instagram tips! Totally makes sense. Unbroken was depressing at times, for sure. Some parts were hard to get through.
DeleteIf Rick and I came anywhere near your neck of the woods, we would definitely have to get together! It's a deal!
Have a great weekend. Hope you got your Sunday post done before you go away for teh weekend. :) Sharon
I feel the same way as you about being too tired to do much this weekend. Besides the kids football and baseball games tomorrow I probably won't do much since my husband is out of town. He's my DIY cohort! Plus, our town's marathon is tomorrow and they literally run through the town causing all sorts of huge traffic issues. It's being treated like a hurricane is coming by the email alerts I'm getting, lol! I'll probably settle in with one of my young adult paranormal romances. I know, it's embarrassing! I'll have to follow you (is that what they call it?) on Instagram. I'm a bad Instagram-er. Trying to get into it, but I'm always behind on the technological trends!
