Photo Friday #4: Snackshot of the Week and More

It's another Photo Friday post! Here's some of what went down during the past week.

SNACKSHOT OF THE WEEK:
brads kale chips
Rick came home from his trip to NYC and brought me kale chips. Not a knockoff Kate Spade purse, not a Statue of Liberty foam crown or a pashmina scarf, but kale chips. Ha! Well, I do love me a kale chip. They were good too! He knows me well. But honey, next time - think sparkly. Or Jacques Torres' decadent hot chocolate at Chelsea Market. ;)

AIN'T NOTHIN' BETTER THAN MAMA'S COOKIN' AWARD:
homemade chicken noodle soup
Rick and I have been sick, so over the weekend my mom stopped by and surprised us with some homemade chicken noodle soup. This is why she's called the Spongebob grandma. If you've seen the show, you probably know what I mean. Isn't that sweet?!? Thanks Mom!

"OVER THE INLET AND THROUGH THE WOODS" SHOT:
tacoma narrows bridge
Going across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge to see my favorite mother-in-law (AKA Fancy Nancy, AKA Elderberry) earlier this week for shopping and lunch.

THE-UNIVERSE-IS-SPEAKING MOMENT:
thanks, jackie for this title! ;)
gratitude
While shopping with Fancy Nancy, I spotted this basket of rocks in the store and the gratitude rock was right on top just like that, like it was smiling at me. If you've read any of the posts where I mentioned my mother-in-law's health ordeal in the past year (like this long winded one), you'll understand more than ever why the word gratitude has so much meaning to me at just that moment while with her. It is a blessing that she had a second chance and is doing well enough that we can still do things together, like shopping and lunch. Feeling very grateful for that. I also just realized there are two rocks under the gratitude rock with "enjoy" and "create". Two of my favorite favorite verbs!

It's probably not the most exciting week of pictures you're gonna see since I've been under the weather, but that's how life goes, right? It's still life, and life is beautiful if we just take a moment to look for it between the Kleenex and cough drops. :)

Any plans this weekend? I'm painting my dresser! I'm pretty sure I've decided on the color. Wanna come over and help? :) Can't wait to see how it turns out. I'm also hoping the weather is good enough so I can get my roses pruned. C'mon, sunshine! I'm rooting for you!

Have a beautiful weekend.

  1. I hope you feel better! Chicken soup makes everything better. Spongebob has a mom? How did I not know that with the hours I have spent watching that show? My husband loves kale chips, too. I haven't tried them because just watching him crunch on them is enough to turn me off, lol. I can't wait to see your dresser! We're headed to the beach this afternoon. It's not quite as warm as I'd like it to be, but I need to log some ocean time stat!

  2. Howdy Sharon! I love your title, snack shot! So cute! I also would totally love to help you paint that dresser, but I being that I'm not the best painter, I don't think you would want me helping you. I would be good company though, as I would just hang with you and chat up a storm, as well as make the much needed runs to the kitchen for snacks and food and maybe some wine, but that would be later in the day! Ok, I'm having a crazy weekend, as in-laws are here and Zoe is at one birthday party to the next and in-between that she has 3 dance classes. Crazy weekend and I'm really ready for a beach chair in the sun, a bowl of mixed nuts (or those kale chips) and a tall glass of wine. I need some major relaxation time. Want to join me?
Have a great time painting that dresser and I can't wait to see the finished product. Post a photo on Insta!
    Love you! Jackie

    1. You WOULD be good company! Funny you mention wine - I just finished painting the second coat of paint on the dresser and had a margarita with my lunch! Rick and I went to the home show nearby between coats of paint and stopped for lunch for fish tacos and a margarita (beer for Rick). Then I came home and painted and thought, "hmmm, should I be painting with a margarita on board?" Looks good now but it might be all uneven in a few hours when I look at it again! hahaha
Sounds like a busy weekend for you too. OHHH, I would so want to join you with a glass of wine in the sun in a beach chair! Can you imagine our conversations? Fun. :) xoxo, Sharon
